The unknown fungus that caused the Mycelium Infection 1806 grew by βpullingβ the bone with it, using our own tissues as structural blocks. Once the structure reached the surface, it spread its spores into the air.
In some cases, it was known to become chronic and noninfectious, though. This woman managed to survive with the infection for decades. Her immune system probably reached some sort of equilibrium with the fungus, reaching a point where they neutralized each other.
